4 spaces. A word uses 1 space, and a word with a picture uses 2, so you can have 4 words, 2 words with pictures, or 2 words and 1 with a picture. Words can be 20 characters and meanings 45.

Tool column side

Put the column on the side of the board you usually stand. It hides and comes back on that same side.

Look

Dark mode changes BowerPresent's own screens. Your slides and the camera keep their own colours.

Showing the panels

One at a time gives the chosen tool the whole column, with tabs at the top to swap. A running timer keeps counting on its tab.

Each presentation keeps its own 3 tools. These 3 are ticked to start with for a new file. Use the arrows to change the order tools stack in the column.

Full uses every animation. Calm keeps gentle fades only. Off switches animation off, which suits an older or slower board.

The speakers must be on. Browsers only allow sound after you have tapped something on the page, so press Start on the timer rather than leaving it to run from a fresh page load.

BowerPresent runs in your browser. Your files, name lists, points and settings are saved in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no tracking.

Bring your slides

Pick where your slides are and follow the steps. Files you open stay on this computer and are never uploaded.

  2. Drop the PDF on BowerPresent's home page, or tap Choose a file.

Animations, slide builds and videos inside the slides are not kept. Each slide keeps its own drawing.

Google SlidesKeeps animations. No publishing needed.
  1. Sign this browser in to the Google account that holds the slides, such as your school account.
  2. Open the slideshow in Google Slides and copy the address from the top of the browser.
  3. Paste it on BowerPresent's home page.

On a shared computer, check whose Google account the browser is signed in to. If the slides say you need access, the browser is signed in to the wrong account. To show slides on any computer without signing in, use File, then Share, then Publish to the web, and paste that link instead. Anyone with a published link can view it.

PowerPoint for the webKeeps animations. Needs a personal OneDrive.
  1. Save the PowerPoint to OneDrive and open it in PowerPoint for the web.
  2. File, then Share, then Embed, then Generate.
  3. Copy the embed code and paste the whole code on BowerPresent's home page.

Work and school Microsoft accounts often switch embedding off. If yours does, save as PDF instead.

CanvaBest as a PowerPoint download.
  1. Open the design and tap Share, then Download.
  2. Choose PPTX (PowerPoint), or PDF Standard, and download it.
  3. Drop the file on BowerPresent's home page.

This always works, with no sharing settings. A Canva link works only when the design is shared so anyone with the link can view it, and many school accounts block that. Download again after you change the design.

PowerPoint file (.pptx)Opens straight from your computer. Preview quality.
  1. Tap Choose a file and choose the .pptx file, or drop it on the home page.
  2. It is read in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Fonts and layout can differ a little from PowerPoint, and animations, slide builds and videos are not kept. Cropping from a PowerPoint needs Chrome on a computer. For an exact copy, save as PDF.

PicturesPhotos or screenshots become slides.
  1. Tap Choose a file and select several pictures at once. Hold Ctrl or Shift to pick more than one.
  2. Each picture becomes a slide, in name order.

Name them 01, 02, 03 and so on to control the order.

Video fileMP4 or WebM, played beside your tools.
  1. Tap Choose a file and choose the video.
  2. Tap the video to play or pause.
YouTube and VimeoPaste the address or Share link.
  1. Copy the address of the video, or tap Share and copy the link.
  2. Paste it on BowerPresent's home page.

A few videos block being played inside other sites. YouTube may show ads.

PowerPoint in Google DriveShown as a preview, without animations.
  1. Sign this browser in to the Google account that holds the file.
  2. Open the PowerPoint in Google Drive and copy the address from the top of the browser.
  3. Paste it on BowerPresent's home page.

For animations, open it with Google Slides first (Open with, then Google Slides) and paste that link.

WebsitesOnly sites that allow it. Many don't.

Many sites refuse to be shown inside other sites. If it stays blank, tap Open in a new tab in the corner.

Keynote, Prezi, Pitch and othersSave as PDF.

These can't be shown inside another site. Export the slides as a PDF and open the PDF in BowerPresent.

How BowerPresent works

Slides and your clicker

  • Open one file or link from the home page. It stays ready until you open another.
  • Your clicker moves the slides. PDFs and pictures also move with the arrows under the slide, or a swipe on a phone.
  • If the clicker stops working on a link, tap the slide once.
  • Pinch, double-tap or Ctrl and scroll to zoom into a PDF or picture.

Tools

  • Each presentation keeps its own 3 tools and its learning intention, key words and steps.
  • Change them with the tools button at the bottom of the column.
  • The learning intention opens full screen with the arrows in its corner.

Picking names

  • Pick chooses at random but favours names that haven't been picked lately.
  • Pick counts are never shown on the board.
  • Hold a picked name if they're away. It's crossed out, marked away for today and another name is picked.

Drawing and the board

  • Tap Pen to draw on the slides. Pen, brush, calligraphy, highlighter, shapes, arrows and a laser pointer are in the bar, with 5 sizes.
  • On PDFs and pictures each slide keeps its own drawing.
  • The Board is endless. Drag with two fingers or the hand tool to move, and pinch to zoom. The scissors copy part of a slide onto it.

Name lists

  • Tap the list name at the top of the column to switch list.
  • Each list keeps its own names, pick counts and points.
  • Export as JSON to move your lists to another computer.

Teach mode

  • The padlock hides the setup buttons so nothing changes by accident.
  • Tap the padlock twice to unlock.

What BowerPresent stores and where

In this browser

  • The file you opened, so it is ready next time. Links are saved as the address only.
  • Name lists, who is away today, the picker's hidden counts and points.
  • Learning intentions, success criteria, key words, steps and your settings.

Never

  • No accounts, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics.
  • Your files are never uploaded. Links are shown by the site they come from, under its own terms.

Deleting it

  • Points and pick counts each have a reset button. Names can be removed in Name lists.
  • Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything. Export first if you want to keep it.
